Blog Image - Recruiters not informing their candidates - It's not on!

What is it with recruiters who don’t let their candidates know they didn’t get the job?

They keep them hanging because they are afraid to hurt their feelings. Well I don’t think it needs to be like that. Yes it’s probably the harder part of job from an emotional perspective.

Nobody likes telling someone they weren’t successful but it’s a necessary evil and comes with the job. Regardless of this it should never be taken personally.

Like any relationship things happen for a reason and in the case of recruitment if you didn’t get selected it just means you are not right for that position and you need to keep looking. There are plenty more jobs out there.

A recruiter needs to be supportive of the candidate when they miss out – be honest and tell them what they can improve on for their next interview – that’s our job! So recruiters – it’s time to do your job and man up and be considerate of other peoples time. Don’t leave them hanging.

The reason I bring this up is because I speak to a lot of candidates who tell me that this is one of their biggest gripes with recruiters What do you reckon?
